Turkey time! RP bowling pockets Group 1 title

The Roselle Park bowling squad is the best Group 1 team in New Jersey.

Feb. 16 at Bowlero in North Brunswick, the Panthers rolled a 937 in the third game to give them a three-game series of 2676 and the NJSIAA team Group 1 title by 45 pins over second-place Sussex Tech.

But RP wasn’t through; they advanced to bowl again as one of four of the top bowling teams in the state in the Tournament of Champions. In the semifinals the Panthers nearly took down the eventual tournament winner, South Brunswick Vikings – a Group 4 school.

In a best-of-five format, Park lost the first two games (the second by only one pin) and then won the next two to force a game five. Here, the Panthers journey ended following a loss in game five.

But for the year, Roselle Park won the conference, state section and overall Group 1 titles.
