During the 1933-1934 school year a group of fathers got together and decided to create a club to work with the Roselle Park school system, and benefit the community as a whole. The group established the following mission:
“The objectives of this organization shall be to work in close cooperation with High School coaches, teachers, Board of Education and governing body of the community, in a sincere effort to create a fuller and more productive life for the youth of Roselle Park, believing that in so doing we are helping to make better citizens of tomorrow.”
These dedicated men were the founding fathers of what would become known as the Dads Club of Roselle Park High School, which continues its relevancy generations later. The Dads Club has consistently remained a partner with the Roselle Park school system to help the youth of Roselle Park athletically and academically.
The Dads Club has been responsible for many projects over the years. Look under the scoreboards at the fields outside and inside the gymnasium, and the press box at the football field. The club has donated weight-room equipment and handed out many plaques throughout the years to honor our students’ achievements. As always, the Dads Club holds its annual Dads Club Wrestling Tournament four hundreds of children. Most recently we played a large role in commemorating the 100th playing of the Thanksgiving Day football game against Roselle. The Dads Club has also purchased new uniforms, equipment, celebrated accomplishments with t-shirts, and sponsored dinners. We continue to look for opportunities where we can celebrate the borough and be of assistance as the district looks to implement new initiatives and projects.
Furthermore, throughout the years the Dads Club has been able to award many scholarships to graduating RPHS seniors. The Dads Club has always recognized the academic achievements of the students of Roselle Park.
We are always looking for new members with fresh ideas to continue the traditions we’ve upheld behind the scenes for the kids of RP. The organization depends on donations and fundraisers such as the annual golf outing.
Come to our monthly meetings, typically held the third MONDAY of each month at 7:30pm at Frenchy’s Bar & Grill (downstairs).
We typically go over some business at hand, share ideas about fundraisers, and get updates from the RPHS coaches on the progress of teams for the current season. Free pizza and refreshments are available at all meetings. As always, there is no dues to join. Membership is granted to those who simply come to meetings, sign in and participate.
